Vince Viray is a gentle human being and wonderful songwriter who is currently living in San Francisco where he owns and operates a funky boutique featuring local SF designers, Paragraph, with his sisters. One word for Vince...Fabulous.
Vince hails from California originally, but moved to New York to do free-lance writing. He wound up working for the College Board, which is where his path crossed Makar's. A very talented writer he did a lot of online articles about Brooklyn and urban planning, which he studied at the New School. He tried law school for a bit, but found it too boring and uncreative.
Andrea found out he played guitar and played him an early version of The Monkey, which he really liked telling us he would be honored to play in our band. And with that he began learning our songs and writing his own. He's the author of The Country Song, No Shot Was Fired and Soonest Mended. When he first played the Country Song we almost fell out of our chairs cause we loved it so much. Initially we weren't looking for another songwriter, but Vince's talent is undeniable and his music really fit with our sound.
Vince gigged with Makar for about a year and played on our debut album, 99 Cent Dreams, but realized that writing not performing was more his thing. So we bid him a fond farewell and miss his finger-picking but expect more songs from him in the future! Especially that Prince song he keeps muttering about.
Vince is a talented writer and has been published in the following cool places –
Stirring – his poem “Ode”
OCCAM'S Razor – his short story “The Ballad of Artistic Dependency”
Expect this list to expand exponentially!
